Something Borrowed pgs. 1-35

In the first few pages of Something Borrowed we're introduced to the main character, Rachel, and her best friend, Darcy. They've been together forever, and now it's Rachel's 30th birthday. All through their lives Darcy has always been the lucky one, and Rachel has always been the straight-laced goody-two shoes. They both now live in New York, Rachel being a lawyer, and Darcy working with PR. On the night of Rachel's 30th birthday, Darcy created a surprised birthday. About the time everyone leaves Darcy is drunk, so Dex (her fiancee) gets her a cab to take her home. Dex stays, and goes out and drinks more with Rachel. When they decide they should go home, they get in the cab, and start making out. They then go back to Rachel's place and have sex. Rachel walks up to tons of missed calls and voice mails from Darcy saying how Dex never came back last night. Rachel and Dex create a lie that he was out with his friend Marcus, and it works pretty well. Rachel still feels awful, and skips out the next night on going out to dinner with Dex and Darcy. When she goes back to work the next day she has a voice mail from Dex, asking her to call him, and talk about what happened that weekend.
