The Book Thief 500-553

Liesel was searching for Max hoping that he wouldn't have had to been marched through Molching. She hadn't found him yet though. They buried Michael Holtzapfel. They had been having a lot of tragedy happen lately. She finally found Max but he was walking with another group of Jews. They had already gotten him. They were both so happy to see each other though. Liesel collapsed in the group and Rudy came to find her and help her. Liesel got very sick after this. She told Rudy everything about Max. She made him promise not to tell anyone. Liesel went back in to the Hermann's library for the last time. She told Mrs. Hermann how sorry she was for everything, but also thanked her. Ilsa Hermann gave her something to write her own story in though, which is more than Liesel could ask. Then she saw two men carrying a body down the street. She saw the hair first and she knew, it was Rudy. She could not believe Rudy was gone. She was overcome with sadness. She then found her Mama and Papa as well. She went and talked to Mama's body but could not bring herself to talk to Papa. She finally looked at him and it was so hard for her. She asked one of the other men to get her papa's accordion for her. She thanked her Papa for everything he had done and wept until she was taken away. Liesel Meminger ended up living to a very old age away from Himmel Street. She had a family.
