The Indigo Notebook 301-315

Wendell and Zeeta start dating, and they’re in love. Layla breaks it off with Jeff, and starts acting eccentric and flighty again. Wendell tells Zeeta that he’s going to school in some other country next year. Zeeta gets to decide what country they go to next, and she’s going to pick whatever country he goes to.

The Indigo Notebook 201-300

Layla tells Zeeta that they might move to Maryland with Jeff. This is what Zeeta’s said she wants her whole life, but now she doesn’t want to. She realizes how much she likes her “weird” life. Wendell and Zeeta kind of get into a fight, but Zeeta can’t talk to him the next few days because she, Layla, and Jeff go on a trip out of town. Zeeta tries to call him, but he doesn’t answer his phone. When they get back from the trip, Zeeta goes to Gaby to ask advice about Wendell, and she learns that Wendell is living with Faustino now. Mamita Luz, Taita Silvio, and Zeeta decide they’re going to protect Wendell whatever it takes. Faustino says he sells teddy bears for a living, but Zeeta thinks that he’s lying. She steals one of his teddy bears, rips it open, and finds a bunch of gems inside. Faustino smuggles emeralds for a living. Zeeta goes to Faustino’s to tell Wendell and “rescue” him from this. When Zeeta gets there, she, Wendell, and Faustino end up running away from some hard-core smugglers, similar to mafia. They harm Faustino because he shorted them some emeralds. Wendell and Zeeta crawl into a secretive crystal cavern that Taita Silvio told them about. Taita Silvio figures they’re in trouble, and he knows they might be there, so he goes there too. They all escape together. The mafia people had been bitten by poisonous snakes. Zeeta talked to Layla and Layla tells her that she’s going to go back to being her old self.

If I Stay 101-200

Adam comes to visit Mia in the hospital. Though Adam can't see her, she reminisces about all of her memories with him. She remembers their first date and how they went to a show. It's killing Adam that he can't see Mia in her ICU room, and it's killing Mia that she can't physically be with him. Adam tries thinking of ways to sneak into Mia's room to see her. An old band member, that's a friend, talks to the nurses and tells them the situation and how Adam has to see Mia. Adam is glad he finally got to see Mia, but then again he's very sad. Mia is still debating as to which way she should go. All she knows is that her grandpa will support her decision either way.

The Chosen One pgs. 100-213

While Kyra’s contemplating running away, Joshua tells her she wants to choose her. He is going to go to the prophet, to ask him. One night Kyra gets a knock at the door, and is told she needs to visit the prophet. Her mom wants to go with her, but he says it’s only to see Kyra. So Kyra goes to the church, and is taken to a room where Joshua is. There she’s asked if she knows what adultery is, it’s also clear that the men beat Joshua, they knew about her and Joshua being in love. She struggles to get to Joshua, to help him, but in turn Joshua just gets beaten more. He’s taken away, and she doesn’t know what will become of him. Then one night she gets a knock on her window, and it’s Joshua. He says he’s running away with a couple of his friends, and will come back for her. The next morning in church, the preacher said the boys have no chance of making it; they won’t be sought after, and looks Kyra straight in the eye, as if he knows. Kyra decided even though she’s in trouble, she’s going to still visit the mobile library. She tells Patrick about all of her troubles, and he says to take her with him. They find her, and beat her again. She doesn’t know for sure, but she suspects they killed Patrick. Then her mother had her baby, and the baby ended up dying. Kyra realized she wasn’t herself anymore, and had to leave. She took the mobile library van and drove to the state line. She calls the police on Patrick’s phone, and they come and get her before her uncle can beat her again. The story ends with her living with another escapee of the FLDS.

The Book Thief 1-100

In 1939 Liesel Meminger, a nine year old, was on a train with her family when her six year old younger brother died. The grave diggers dug a grave for him and when they walked away a book fell out of the ones pocket. Liesel took it from the ground and kept it even though she could not read. Her and her mother left the graveyard soon after. Liesel was take away from her mother and had to go to a foster home on Himmel Street in Germany to live with Hans and Rosa Hubermann (Mama and Papa). Liesel met her friend Rudy Steiner who lived next door and they would soon become the best of friends. All the neighborhood kids liked to play soccer together and both Liesel and Rudy were very good. One night Papa found out that Liesel didn't know how to read and he offered to teach her. He wasn't the best reader himself but he knew that he could teach her if they both put forth the effort. Most of the time when they did their reading lessons it was late into the night when Mama was already sleeping. Liesel delivered ironing to people and got paid for it. The Hubermanns did not have a lot of money so everything she could get helped out. At school in November the teacher had everyone in the class get up and read except Liesel. She told the teacher she could do it so she stood up there but got too nervous and couldn't read what was in front of her. Whenever the Germans would have a burning Liesel would steal a book though. She loved books and was getting better at reading them. For Christmas she received two books from Mama and Papa and she was very happy about that. Later on she asked Papa if she could write a letter to her real mother. He told her sure and so she wrote her mother a letter and sent it. She searched the mailbox for  a reply through January and February but nothing ever came. She had written four other letters and one day she took money from her Mama and sent those letters. When Rosa asked her what happened to the money she lied at first but then told her she had taken it to send letters. Rosa beat her with a wooden spoon. Then she said sorry, but not for hitting Liesel, it was because they both knew her mother would never reply to those letters.

When She Was Good. P 150-223

Em starts to gradually do what she wants. She was living off the money that she was getting from Pamela but since she is gone, she has to go out and find work. She always feels like everyone is watching her and judging her, thinking that she is not good enough for them. She sees this woman who lives in her apartment and begins to grow fond of her. She goes against what Pamela is telling her to do in her head and goes and plants a garden becuase it's what she wanted. She waters and takes care of it. And as it grows, it seems so does Em. She opens up more to people surrounding her and seems to start becoming happier.

If I Stay 1-100

Mia has a snow day today, so the rest of her family decides to take the day off also. They all decide to go visit their grandparents in Portland. Unfortunately, there has been a tragic car accident. Mia doesn't know what is going on because she can see her body. She feels almost like a ghost. She is rushed to the hospital and the still doesn't know what is happening. She can see herself but she knows something is different. She is in coma and the nurses say that it is her decision when or where she wants to come back to. She isn't quite sure as to how she can control that, but all she understands is that she can go with her parents, or come back to Teddy and her grandparents, whom are alive. All she can think about right now is her boyfriend, Adam. She is suppose to be at his concert in Seattle. She has a tough decision to make. She can either come back to Teddy, her grandparents, Adam, and friends or she can go with her parents and meet up with everyone later.

Something Blue 300-348

Everything with the twins was fine which is exactly what Geoffrey told her. When Ethan came into the room to visit her though it was then she realized that she was in love with Ethan. Her doctor told her that she was to be put on bed rest for the duration of her pregnancy. They decided it would be best to just let Darcy stay at home with Ethan. Ethan took great care of her when she was on bed rest and made food for her. He stayed in his house to write too. Darcy wanted Ethan as their father. Geoffrey came over to her house and brought house brochures for her to look at for when they moved in together. She knew she had to end their relationship before it went any further. She told him she wasn't in love with him. They decided to be friends and Darcy was really happy with that. She got a card and present from Rachel and the card really made her happy and the present was two beautiful blue baby blankets. Two weeks later her water broke and she called Ethan to come pick her up. He ran over to the house right away and took her to the hospital. Later her identical twins John and Thomas were born. The next day she called her mom and she sounded generally happy for her which is more than Darcy has heard from her mother in a long time. She also called Rachel and told her about them. Rachel told her that she and Dex got married and Darcy found herself very happy for them as well. She had no feelings for Dex anymore, she was in love with Ethan. After Darcy and Ethan came back home and resumed their lives they were walking in the park one day when Ethan told her he had ended it with Sondrine. They both knew the real reason why and had their first real kiss in the park. Two years later they were happily married and her mother and father and even Dex and Rachel attended the wedding.

Something Blue 200-300

Darcy went out with Ethan and some of his friends and it didn't go so well. She realized that they knew what happened between her and Dex and she was mad at Ethan for telling them and not even warning her. She felt really embarrassed. Later on her and Ethan talk and she finds out that Rachel and Dex had been hooking up longer than she thought. When she woke up the next morning she felt her baby kick for the first time. She made a vow to become a better Darcy. Since her and Ethan had gotten into an argument the night before she didn't go tell him about her baby kicking. When she went to look for a doctor she met two girls. There names were Meg and Charlotte. She told them about her baby kicking and they became quick friends. They invited her to a party the next Saturday and suggested a doctor for her named Mr. Moore. When she went home that night and Ethan returned she told him about the baby kicking and he was happy for her. Ethan has a girlfriend named Sondrine and Darcy doesn't know why but it bothers her. She called Mr. Moore and set up an appointment for the afternoon. She got an ultrasound and found out she was not having a baby girl like she thought, but twin boys. She was devastated. She did not want a boy and she really didn't want two. When she told Ethan she was very upset but since he was so excited it made her much happier too. She went to the party the girls had invited her to and met Geoffrey who is her doctor (Mr. Moore) Then end up talking and really hitting it off. He tells her that he'll suggest a new doctor for her. They start spending a lot of time together and she meets his son Max. Ethan and Darcy spend Christmas together and he convinces her to call her mom and tell her about her babies. She does but her mom doesn't seem very excited about it. Ethan, Sondrine, Darcy, and Geoffrey go out on a double date. Darcy can tell Geoffrey might be jealous of how close she is with Ethan. It didn't go so well but she decided she wanted to try it again anyway. So on Valentine's Day they all went out again. Her and Sondrine went to the bathroom together and she was bleeding and they all rushed to the hospital immediately. 

Whistling in the Dark 201-297

Sally and Troo ended up staying with Rasmussen until their mom got better. Once she got better though, they all stayed in Rasmussen's house. Nell told Sally and Troo that her and Eddie were getting married once she graduated from hair school. After that Nell and Eddie took Sally and Troo to the hospital to see their mother. Their mother asked to talk to Sally in private. Sally didn't think much of it. She told Sally that Rasmussen was her real father, and that's why he has a picture of her in his wallet. Sally thought she was joking at first, but really, they look a lot alike. One night when Rasmussen was playing a baseball game, Sally and Troo went to play on the playground with Mary Lane. They all wanted to see if Bobby was the molester and murder. Mary Lane slipped into the shed, which held all of the equipment. Troo was suppose to be keeping watch, but Bobby knocked her unconscious. He came around and grabbed Sally. Sally gave a signal to Mary Lane and told her to escape. Mary Lane has escaped out the window with the Krockers bag, which help the evidence to prove that Bobby was guilty. He took Sally to her favorite spot at the lagoon. As he was starting to take his clothes off, Sally made a run for it. Bobby chased after her, but she went into Sampson's pen and as Bobby jumped for her, he went sailing right over her. Sally, Troo, and Mary Lane were then taken to the emergency room. They were all going to be okay. It turns out that Mary Lane had a tapeworm, and that's why she is so skinny. Sally later learned that Sampson had killed Bobby and she didn't feel the least bit sorry for him. After all this happened, the block party was coming up, which also meant school. They weren't all to excited, but after everything that happened this summer, they were sort of looking forward to it. All Sally could think about was her "father," the Sky King. She thanked him for protecting her, and she also let go of him, so he could fly away.

Something Blue 100-200

Darcy was disappointed because she didn't feel her birthday with Marcus went like she'd hoped. She brought Marcus home to meet her family and her parents really wanted to like him but they didn't. He was nothing like Dex and they wanted better for their daughter. Darcy and her mom got in a big argument about Darcy being pregnant. Darcy's mother was not supportive at all and this made Darcy very angry. Darcy and Marcus left the house that same day because Darcy was so angry with her family, especially her mom. When they got back home it didn't get much better for Darcy. Marcus dumped her and said he didn't want anything to do with the baby. The next day she called Dexter and got him to come to the apartment. She thought there was a chance she could get him back but there really wasn't and when she asked he told her that he was in love with Rachel. When she told Claire she was pregnant she realized that Claire really wasn't a good friend to her because she wasn't supportive and changed completely about how she felt about Darcy. Darcy broke down and called Ethan who lives in London and asked if she could stay with him for awhile. He agreed and Darcy headed off to England. Darcy did a lot of shopping and her and Ethan hung out a lot and she is planning on staying a little longer than he expects her to.

The Chosen One pgs. 1-100

In the first 100 pages of The Chosen One we’re introduced to Kyra, the main character. She’s a Mormon who lives with her mom, who is one among a few wives her father has. At the beginning I can tell she’s a little different. She’s telling her sister how she would kill the prophet, if she could. She talks of many of the sins she’s done, one of them is basically having a boyfriend. She’s in love with a boy she met a while ago, Josiah. She meets up with him every so often, and claims it’s love. He wants to “choose her” when he gets older. Later on in the story she’s told she’s going to be forced to marry another man. Not only is this man her uncle, he’s also 63, and she knows she’ll be forced to have sex to bare children with him. She’s disgusted at the idea she made her little sister be dunked naked in ice-cold water because she was crying when she is there. She can’t imagine life with him. She also sins by reading other books. They’re not supposed to read any “outside” books, and were forced to burn them all when she was younger. She goes to the traveling library and picks books that she hides in her tree, which is like her secret hide out. Toward the end of the 100 pages I can tell Kyra is contemplating running away.

The Burn Journals 201-300

Hes home for good now although he still has a very strict schedule of going to therapy, getting tutored, and also going to the Children's hospital twice a week. After a long time of going by the schedule for weeks its getting close to Christmas. He is on his way to Children's for the annual Christmas party. He meets a guy named Joey who was also a burn victim.

Speak 1-100

In the first 100 pages of Speak it is her first day of school. She is so nervous because of the last party she went to when she called the cops, but why did she call the cops? On the first day she meets a new student. Her name is Heather. She is really into trying to be popular and so she has Melinda try and help her. Little does she know that Heather is just using her. She will later ditch her for the perfect girls who help out with everything all because she called the cops. Why?

When She Was Good. P 1-150

Em tells about how Pamela was so mean and that she now is dead. She cant believe that she is actually gone after all that Pamela put her through. She tells how Pamela was very lazy and just sat around and ate. She never worked becuase she told Em it was her job and that she needed to stop being stupid and figure out what to do so they could live better. Em also goes back and tells about when her mother was still alive and how all the things changed when she passed away. Pamela couldnt be controlled and she wouldnt listen to their father. She also started fighting with their father about money and would go to his work place to get his paycheck from him so he wouldnt spend it on alcohol because he was an alcoholic. She secretly kept half of this money and kept saving it so her and Em could run away. Eventually, their father got remarried and since the girls didnt like her, they ran away. They started living in an apartment but got kicked out after awhile because they didnt pay the rent. This is when Em started working and Pamela stayed home. Em worked a variety of jobs to make things work. Then one day, Pamela dies. Em still hears her voice and worries about how Pamela will react to what she does. Then she remembers that Pamela is gone.

Whistling in the Dark 101-200

Hall hit someone over the head with a beer bottle. They guy was sent to the hospital immediately, but he ended up dying. Hall was sent to prison for a long time. Sally and Troo stayed with Ethel at Mrs. Galecki's house for a night. Sally got up in the middle of the night and creeped on Rasmussen, since he is the next door neighbor. As she was looking through his window, she noticed that there was a picture of Junie, the girl that was murdered and molested. Sally woke Ethel up and Ethel told her that Rasmussen is Junie's uncle. Sally wasn't quite so sure of it at first, but the next day Rasmussen drove her to Junie's funeral. He told her about how he visited with Sally's mother and how she wanted Sally and Troo to live with Rasmussen until she got better. At first, Sally didn't want to stay with him, but then she thought of how happy Troo would be. She is still debating whether or not it is safe or the right choice.

Something Blue 1-100

Darcy felt completely betrayed when her best friend of so many years, Rachel, starting dating her fiance (now ex-fiance), Dexter. Darcy talks about she met Marcus and how she was initially attracted to him. Her and Marcus got together on the fourth of July and she knew that there was something there. Her and Dex called off the wedding and engagement and it was pretty mutual. Dex and Rachel had kind of been together all summer also. Darcy finds out that she is pregnant with Marcus's child and tells him and he doesn't know how to feel about it. He isn't ready for the responsibility of a child. Darcy was also interested in marrying Marcus and he didn't have a big interest in that. Darcy was also always worried about Dex and Rachel. She constantly asked Marcus what he thought they were doing and how she couldn't ever see them together. She also said how Rachel wasn't pretty enough for someone like Dex. Marcus came with Darcy to her first pregnancy check up and the doctor told her that her due date was May 2 which is Dexter's birthday. Marcus and Darcy were furniture shopping one day when they ran into Dex and Rachel. They never spoke to each other and Rachel and Dex never saw them, but it was very hard on Darcy. It was Darcy's birthday and she was really hoping to hear from either Dex or Rachel but neither of them ever called her. 

The Burn Journals 101-200

In the next one hundred pages of The Burn Journals Brent is getting ready to head to the mental hospital. He is not excited because of all of the new friends he had made. The nurses at the mental hospital are very mean and rude to the patients. Later in his stay with the hospital he gets to go home for a weekend. Coming back to the hospital he had a new therapist that he hated. After he gets back he learns that he will soon be discharged.

The Burn Journals 1-100

In the first one hundred pages of The Burn Journals we learn why and how he tried to kill himself. He had gotten in trouble with one of his teachers because he was stealing the very first time he tried to kill himself. He tried to kill himself in four different ways. Once by cutting, another by trying to hang himself and the last and final time he will ever try again he set himself on fire. He survived. They sent him to the hospital for several months. While he was there he made a lot of friends with the staff.
