Flowers for Algernon 301-311
Charlie thinks that if he reads a lot of books, he’ll be able to keep some of his intelligence. However, it’s obvious that he’s declining very quickly. Alice and Professor Nemur come to visit him, but he makes them leave. He doesn’t want people to see him in this state. At the end, he finally accepts what’s happening to him and he knows he can’t make himself any smarter. On the last page, he says how proud of himself he is for making a scientific discovery. He doesn’t know what it was, but he’s glad he could help other people like himself.
