The Lost Mother 1-100

In the time of the Great Depression Henry Talcott and his two young children Thomas and Margaret have to live in a tent because their home got bought out. Henry works as a butcher and tries very hard to make money for his family. Their mother left them to go get a job in the city and the kids want her to come back very badly. There neighbors are the Farley's and the Bibeau's. They like Gladys Bibeau a lot and she loves those children like her own. Thomas misses his mother so much he writes her a letter and tells her to come back to the tent and see them. When Thomas's mother writes him back she thinks it was Henry who made him write and tells him that it was pathetic to use his son to try and talk to her. She doesn't want to come back and is happy where she is. Henry tells his son not to write her anymore. The kitten Mrs. Farley gave Margaret ends up and drowning and it breaks Margaret's heart.
