Hero 1-100

Thom is a teenager with special powers. He can heal people with a touch. His dad used to be in a league of super heroes called The League, but he got kicked out. Thom doesn’t know why, but he knows better than to bring it up. Anything about superheroes or powers is banned in his house, and any talk about The League is strictly forbidden. At one of Thom’s basketball games, a boy from the other team falls down and hurts himself. Thom puts his hand on the boy and heals him. This elicits taunts from people around him saying that he’s gay, but he actually is gay. He hasn’t told anybody because his dad is completely homophobic. If his dad ever found out, Thom’s afraid of what would happen. He gets kicked off of the basketball team because his coach is also homophobic, and he hears the rumors. Thom’s afraid his dad will find out about his sexuality, so he runs away. Before he leaves, he finds pictures of his mom, who left their family, and discovers that she was a superhero. Now he knows where he got his powers. He gets on a bus to leave town, and three super villains, Ssnake, Vamp, and Snaggletooth, try to hijack the bus. However, another superhero, the Man in Black, comes to try to rescue the bus. Between Thom and the Man in Black, they manage to hold off the hijack for a while, and then The League shows up. They are able to get rid of the super villains and save all the people on the bus. Afterward, one of the most famous heroes in the league, Uberman, asks Thom to come and try out to be on the league. Thom accepts, and then decides running away is for the weak, so he goes back and finds his dad crying. He discovers that his dad’s hero, Captain Victory, had just died. He talks to his dad about hero things for the first time that night, and discovers that Captain Victory was his dad’s mentor in getting into the superhero business. The next day at Captain Victory’s funeral, Thom sees his dad talking to the leader of The League, Justice. He figures this will end badly, as his dad won’t even talk about The League, but then he learns that his dad was Justice's mentor in getting into the superhero world.
