The Art of Racing in the Rain 1-100

This book is told from the perspective of the family dog: Enzo. Enzo is a very old dog, and he’s ready to die because he believes that when dogs die, they become humans in their next life. This book is a flashback of his life. It starts when his master, Denny, first got him. Denny has always been good to Enzo, and they’re best friends. Denny is an amateur race car driver. He meets a girl, Eve, and they fall in love and get married. At first, Enzo is jealous of Eve, but then he realizes that she makes Denny happy, so she’s okay with him too. Denny and Eve have a child: Zoe. Denny gets a chance to take his racing career to the next level. Eve comes down with some sort of medical condition. The book never really says what it is, but it makes her very weak. She has “episodes” where she goes sort of crazy, and Denny can’t do anything to help her. Denny has to quit, or at least postpone, his career to take care of her. She doesn’t want to go to the hospital because she knows medicines won’t get rid of her problem, they’ll just cover it up.
