Their next game is very important too, it’s one that could take them close to the state championships. They play in the Boise stadium, the one with the blue field. They end up losing, giving up their chance to win the state championships. During this time Ben starts becoming closer to Rudy, and man who works at the same place he does occasionally. He starts learning Rudy used to be a priest, and is now the town drunk. He also learns a lot about Malcolm X. Ben is trying to prove to his history teacher that teachers don’t teach what really happened in history, which involved a lot of racism. Ben also learns that Dallas’s brother, is really her son. She was raped when she younger, and her son when she was 13. He promises Dallas that he’ll always be there, but can he really? Throwing Dallas into his life is hurting Ben because he knows he can’t have a future with her.
