Deadline pgs. 1-100

The story starts off with Ben Wolf getting the news he only has a year to live. He decides not to tell his parents, even though his doctor thinks he’s crazy for not doing so. He says he never felt like he was supposed to grow old, and knows that it would kills his family if he told them. Ben’s mom is “crazy,” and from what I’ve picked up on, an alcoholic, and possibly on drugs. His dad isn’t home very much, but Ben’s very close to his older brother, Cody. Ben decides to go out for football this year, instead of cross-country. This is a big surprise to everyone because Ben was a good runner, and a shoe-in for state cross-country. He’s also really small, and everyone expects him to get smashed on the team. To everyone’s surprise, he’s really good at football. The girls of his dreams, Dallas Suzuki, also ask Ben to homecoming. This actually pains Ben, because he starts to realize that he’s dying, and doesn’t have much time left. Even though he lives with this news, he’s surprisingly calm, and talks it one day at a time. He also has continuous dreams with a man named Jesus, pronounced like Hey-soos. In the dreams he has discussions with Jesus, and tries to find answers about his life. The end of the 100 pages was Ben on his way to one of the hardest football games of the year.
