Deadline 1-100

Ben is a high school senior when he gets the news that this year will be his last year. He doesn’t want to tell his parents, but his doctor really wants to. However, he’s a legal adult, so he decides to keep this information to himself. He doesn’t want people to know he’s dying. He wants to live his whole life in his last year. He asks his dream girl, Dallas Suzuki on a date, and to his surprise, she ends up asking him to homecoming. He tries out for the football team, and once again, to his surprise, he ends up making the team, and actually being fairly good. His family life is pretty messed up. I’ve gathered that his mom is sort of psycho, but it never says what’s wrong with her. His dad is always away. The only family member Ben really has is his younger brother, Cody. They’re very close. He visits a counselor on his doctor’s recommendation. He tells his counselor that he has been having conversations in his dreams with a man named Hey-soos. At first he thinks Hey-soos is actually Jesus, but Hey-soos tells him that he’s not. Ben is getting ready to play the Homecoming football game, and one of their best players, Sooner, is out with a broken collarbone, so Ben is going to be a starter.
