All the Pretty Horses. P 200-300

John and Rawlins are staying at the house still and doing things with the horses to make them tame. The boss takes John aside and into the house to talk to him about all her knows horses. The boss was rather impressed by John's knowledge and asked more questions about breeding with the new horses that he was going to be getting. John was taken back to the house to talk with the boss's mom who was the Grandmother of Alejandra. John has a crush on her and they have talked a few times. He even went to a dance so he would be able to hang out with her and be around her. She comes and goes from the ranch. John always likes to see her. Her grandmother did inform John that no girl needed to get a bad reputation from a boy though and she didnt want him to do that for Alejandra. He told her he understood and was thinking to keep his distance. John keeps seeing her and after her father finds out, Mexican guards come and take the two boys to the town where Belvins stole his horse back. Jail is very rough for the boys and they are finally let out. Since they were bailed out John has to promise never to see Alejandra again. Since they boys found out Belvins died, Rawlins thought it was too much and went back to Texas. John however stayed to try to get the horses and Alejandra. They decide to meet one day in town before she goes to the ranch and here she tells him that it was her who told her father about them being together. She also says she cannot be with him. John is now pissed at the world and determined to get his horse back. He goes back to the town where they were prisoned and holds the man at gunpoint forcing him to bring him to his and Belvins horses. Even though he gets shot, he takes the captin and rides back north. He is approached by locals who take the captin but leave him alone. He finally makes it back and tries to find Belvins true horse owner but ends up getting him. Being at home makes him realize how things have changed so much and he ends up just riding his horse west into the sunset.
