The Fault In Our Stars 1-100

Hazel is a teenage girl who has thyroid cancer that has spread to her lungs. She hasn't been going to school for three years because it's almost certain that she's going to die. She's on oxygen, because as she says, her "lungs suck at being lungs." Her mom encourages her to attend a support group with other teenagers with cancer in order to express her feelings about it. One day, she goes to support group and there is a new kid there. The new kid spent the entire time just staring at her, and when they talk afterward, she is very intrigued by him. She learns that his name is Augustus, and he asks her to come to his house to watch a movie that night. She isn't going to go, but she decides on a whim that she should. She learns that he had cancer in his bones when he was younger, and now he has a prosthetic leg. She also learns that he used to have a serious girlfriend who died of cancer. They start hanging out with each other, and bond over books. She suggests that he read a book called "The Imperial Affliction" by some obscure author who had never written anything else, and who moved to the Netherlands shortly after publishing this book, never to be heard from again. This book is Hazel's absolute favorite book, and when Augustus read it, he became obsessed with it too. It ends without answering so many questions, so they write a letter to the author in the Netherlands. He writes back and says that he can't answer their questions any way except for in person. Hazel dismisses the idea because she knows that her family can't afford a trip to the Netherlands. However, Augustus tells her that he wants to use his wish trip that he gets for being a cancer survivor to take her to the Netherlands. She gets really excited, but she realizes that she's afraid to get close to him because she knows that she won't live for a whole lot longer, and she doesn't want to hurt him.
