The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian 1-30
Junior is a boy who was born with many problems. He was born with to much fluids inside of his head so the doctors had to cut the top of his head open and take out all of the fluid. They told his mom that he probably would not survive and if he did he would be a vegetable. He survived and he is not a vegetable, but many problems came from the surgery. He has terrible seizures that appear about once or twice a week. His eyes are messed up, one is near sighted while the other one is farsighted. His head and feet were not proportional to his body. Junior also had a lisp when he spoke and stuttered terribly. All of these problems made him have a really rough childhood. He was picked on and bullied a lot by other people on the reservation. The only friend he seemed to have was his dog Oscar. One day though he got really sick and his dad seen the only way to make it so it would not suffer anymore was to shoot it. He hated being poor and not being able to keep his only friend. He did make a friend though his buddy he called Rowdy because he always seemed to be fighting. He fought everything that made him mad because he had a really bad temper. One night they both decide to go to a Pow Wow where there was singing and dancing. They get there and Rowdy trips and hits a van and gets really mad and starts beating up the van and destroys it. Junior runs away and runs into the Andruss Triplets who picked on him and beat him up. Rowdy hears about it and shaves off their eyebrows and hair when they where passed out drunk. The next step in Rowdy and Junior's life where to go to high school. They go to their first day and meet Mr. P their geometry teacher, which Junior was really excited about because he loves angles and sides. He learns though that their text books are almost as old as his mother and gets really mad and throws it into Mr. P's face.
